What is a promo in Ultimate Team?

A promo is a themed campaign that adds a new set of special cards to FC 27 Ultimate Team for a week or two. Each one brings its own packs, SBCs and objectives, and usually arrives in two teams, a week apart. Some of these cards are fixed upgrades; others, like Road to the Knockouts, improve when real clubs win. Between the big campaigns, EA keeps the game moving with the weekly Team of the Week (TOTW), which brings in-form cards every Wednesday, and with daily challenges.

How promos move coin prices

Promos are the main reason the market swings. In the days before a big release, players sell cards to raise coins for the new release, so card prices dip and demand for coins rises. On release night, everyone wants the same new cards at once, and the best ones cost millions until supply catches up. A week later, once packs and SBCs have pushed more copies into the game, prices settle. The next promo

Destined for Glory, the launch campaign, runs until 9 October 2026. Going by previous seasons, the next big event is Ultimate Scream around Halloween, with Road to the Knockouts not far behind, while EA has already put Future Stars in season one and Hall of FUT Unleashed in season two. We update this calendar as soon as each date is confirmed, so it is worth a look before every big purchase. Between campaigns, each Wednesday's TOTW keeps the market moving.

How to plan coins around promos

• Buy before the hype. Coins bought in the quiet days before a promo go further than coins bought on release night.
• Sell into the dip, buy after the peak. If you trade, list spare cards before a release and buy targets a few days after it starts.
• Watch TOTW. In-form cards from the weekly TOTW often make good targets once their price settles a day or two after release.
• Keep a reserve for SBCs. Many of the best special cards come from challenges, and fodder prices jump during campaigns.
• Don't chase every card. Pick the two or three cards that fix your team and plan around those.

Season objectives also reward players who play through each campaign, so check the objectives tab as each one starts. If you buy FUT coins for a promo, order a day or two before it lands. Delivery is within 2 hours, but rates are lower and the market is calmer before the rush.

Team of the Year: the biggest week of the season

Voting usually opens in December, so you can back the players you want before the cards arrive. TOTY lands in January in every recent season, starting with attackers and finishing with the full team over a week or so. It is the busiest week of the year for the transfer market and the most expensive for coins. If TOTY is your target, the cheapest plan is to build a coin balance in December, when Winter Wildcards and Christmas packs keep the market active but prices calmer. Its challenges and objectives usually follow the main release.
